This year my brother Derek and our friend Cherokee came with me, and we arrived four hours early. While waiting in line, we had soda, water and subway type sandwhiches from 7 eleven and talked to people around us. When we got in, we played Rock Band that best buy had set up, after a few songs I played real guitar around the corner for about ten people. When that ended, we watched the second band, which i can't remember their name right now. Then we went in line to meet Trivium. Cherokee and I took turns watching bro in line while the other could go look at stands nearby. I took Derek around to look at some stands. Then we looked at the revolver magazines and put on sunblock while waiting. Afterwards, we played Rock band again, but this time on stage. We got free rock band bandanas for playing on stage. Then we went to see All That Remains. That's the only band we went in the pit for, and we got recorded by the singer, which I'll look for on youtube later today (see my deviation Phil Anyone? for the whole story). Then we watched Killswitch Engage on the main stage, they were really cool. A guy who was sitting next to use thought the original singer had left the band, but he was there and they had fire in the background, which made it even more awesome. My brother's favourite show was Slayer, who came on after Killswitch Engage and the collapse of the curtain and stuff that held it up while the stage was worked on. Slayer were cool, that had elaborate lighting and tons of fire, including their logo of the eagle which had fire between the band name and the bird, so only the letters would show in the fire then the bird would show again after. Last came Marylin Manson. He is pretty much tied with Slipknot for a cool performance, and I LOVE Slipknot. I mean, his performance was REALLY cool. Every song his microphone would be something different (at one point it was a knife use to escape from a box, which looked awesome). And when he played my favourite song, Sweet Dreams, he dressed up as a ghost, and when he got into the song he tore it off and was back to normal. His outfit was slightly changed between songs too. The first song he was a pirate, and then had a top hat, etc. That was Derek's first concert and I'm so glad I took him, 'cause it was probably the best I've seen. We hope to go again next year, though we don't know which bands will show up.
The only thing really disappointing was I slept in 'cause I was so tired and now I miss out on Alice in Chains, which has got to be my favourite band to listen to all the time. I'm not sure about their live, but I have a list of only them that I listen to a few times a day.
